Texas State University is pleased to welcome Paul Herring as Associate Vice President of Development in University Advancement.
Herring brings more than 18 years of higher education and nonprofit advancement leadership experience to Texas State. He most recently served as Vice President of Advancement and Campaign Director for Sul Ross State University and the Borderlands Research Institute, where he led fundraising strategy and donor engagement efforts in support of institutional priorities.
Throughout his career, Herring has led record-breaking fundraising initiatives, built and developed high-performing teams, and cultivated strong partnerships with donors, alumni, community leaders, and institutional stakeholders.

Paul joins Texas State at an exciting time of tremendous momentum for our university. His strategic approach to philanthropy, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to building meaningful relationships will be tremendous assets as we continue strengthening the culture of philanthropy at Texas State and expanding the impact of private support across the university.
As Associate Vice President of Development, Herring will provide strategic leadership for Texas State’s development program, working closely with university leadership, development professionals, and advancement partners to strengthen donor relationships and advance the university’s philanthropic priorities.
Herring’s approach to advancement centers on building authentic relationships that connect the passions and interests of donors, alumni, and community partners with opportunities to make a meaningful difference through the university.
